After an increasingly frustrated relationship with the world of dj’ing over the piece A La Fu's forthcoming meticulous monster-piece; DJ Memoirs - Choose Your Own Adventure reflects lives and times through that curious pastime of playing records.

Based on the role-playing stories we may have read when we were young this project puts you in charge of the tables that turn and is an insight into the weird and wonderful world of the disc jock, it’s scenarios, twists and turns and depending on what kind of person you are it’s bitter sweet taste. The release is essentially a vast mixtape including a selection of audio possibilities all of which run in and out of each other seamlessly in conjunction with a number of short narratives that place you in the role of the d.j. These stories relate to the various objectives and settings you may find yourself in when playing records in public, whether touring, in clubs, bars, festivals, recording guest mixes and even a wedding party thrown into the mix as you're friends know what you do and you can't hide.

A project born alone it not only illustrates A La Fu’s approach to playing records or is just an insight into the various directions a night can go but it also reflects and comments on how the modern world buys, compiles and listens to music today by creating each and every one of our own personal playlists. We are all disc jockeys at heart.
